Colorado Rockies game no. 35 thread: Garrett Richards vs. Germán Márquez

After a busy deadline, Rockies look to continue playoff push

The 2020 MLB trade deadline has come and gone and after the dust settled, the Rockies acquired reliever Mychal Givens and OF Kevin Pillar. Both are veterans who the Rockies hope can contribute to a playoff run. Givens could be available tonight, while Kevin Pillar will fly into Denver tomorrow morning, according to Bud Black.

Pitching tonight in the series finale for the Rockies is Germán Márquez. Márquez is coming into today’s game with a 4.50 ERA in 42 innings. In his last start, Márquez allowed three runs in five innings against the Diamondbacks. He has had a difficult month of August with an ERA of 5.64 in five starts this month. Most of the damage was done by the Houston Astros on August 20th when he gave up ten runs in five innings.

Throwing for the San Diego Padres is veteran right-hander Garrett Richards. Richards is coming off of his worst outing of the season against the Seattle Mariners, unable to make it out of the first innings and giving up six runs off of four hits including two home runs. This ballooned his ERA from 3.52 to 5.17.

After trading what seemed like a majority of their roster, the Padres will be debuting a few new faces. First baseman Mitch Moreland and catcher Austin Nola are expected to be in the lineup.
