The Rockies have a lot of work to do this week as they continue to fight for a wild card spot. The team needs to be near perfect, which is looking good so far with last night’s win against Giants’ ace Johnny Cueto in tow.
Kyle Freeland (2-2, 3.75 ERA) will look to impress on the mound tonight against left-hander Drew Smyly (0-0, 3.94 ERA). Against the Giants, Freeland is 6-3 with a 3.60 ERA in 14 career starts. His two previous starts against San Francisco this season were no-decisions; however, the Rockies won each of those game 6-4 and 9-6.
All eyes are on the N.L. standings as the race for the postseason comes down to the wire, especially with both the Rockies and Giants vying for the final spots.
