A game that started off with little offense from the Rockies, quickly turned around for better and became a tied game in the seventh. However, a disastrous bottom half of the seventh inning at the hands of Jairo Díaz, propelled the Giants to a 5-2 win. Díaz suffers the loss after giving up three runs on three hits, while failing to get more than one out in his appearance.
Rox spoil sixth inning opportunity
The top of the sixth started out strong with runners on second and third and no outs, giving Colorado their best chance to get a couple runs on the board. And, the Rockies were able to push a run across home plate on an infielders’ choice to second. But nothing else came from the inning as two runners were stranded on base. On the night, the Rockies left a total of eight on base and went 1-for-10 with runners in scoring position.
Kemp on base
Matt Kemp took over the DH position tonight and played just as well as the Rox needed in this high-stake game. The veteran outfielder got on base in all four of his at bats, he went 2-2 and walked twice. Kemp also turned heads when he safely stole second base — his first stolen base in four years.
