Colorado Rockies game no. 55 thread: Ryan Castellani vs. Caleb Baragar

The Rockies will look to rebound after Tuesday’s loss

After a bullpen meltdown that led to a 5-2 loss on Tuesday, the Rockies will look to rebound and keep their playoff hopes alive. They are currently three games out of the eight seed, but the Giants are tied with the Brewers. These next two games are critical for the Rockies playoff hopes.

Ryan Castellani (1-3, 5.59 ERA) will take the mound for the Rockies. In his last outing against the Dodgers on September 18, he got roughed up for eight runs (seven earned) in 4 13 innings. However, in his previous start against the Angels, he pitched 5 23 innings of scoreless baseball. Walk have been a major issue for Castellani, as he has issued 13 in his last three starts. He has 21 walks and 24 strikeouts in 38 23 innings this season, which amounts to a 1.14 strikeout-to-walk ratio.

Caleb Baragar is in line to make his first start of 2020. He has made 21 appearances as a reliever and has a 4.58 ERA in 19 23 innings. In seven appearances in September, he has only allowed four hits in 5 23 innings, walking three and striking out five. It is possible that Baragar will be an opener and Wednesday’s game will be a bullpen game for the Giants.

Hopefully that bodes well for the Rockies.
