Colorado Rockies game no. 56 thread: Chi Chi González vs. Kevin Gausman

The Rockies will look to split the series

After two straight losses, the Rockies will hope to split the series against the Giants before traveling to Phoenix to face the eliminated Diamondbacks. The Rockies offense was outscored 12-4 in the two losses, so hopefully they are able to turn it on in this final game.

Chi Chi González (0-2, 7.53 ERA) will take the ball for the Rockies. In his last outing against the Dodgers on September 19, Chi Chi pitched five innings and allowed three runs on four hits. He struck out two and walked one. Prior to that, against the Padres on September 8, he lasted just 13 of an inning and allowed four runs on zero hits. He walked three batters and struck out just one. Hopefully he’s able to keep the Giants in check today.

He will go up against Aurora, CO native Kevin Gausman (3-3, 3-76 ERA). Gausman has been dealing with some elbow issues lately and he was forced to skip a start to get a precautionary MRI. However, the MRI showed no structural damage and he was able to make his next start on September 19. In that start, he pitched six innings and allowed one run on one hit, striking out six and walking three.
