After a long 30-day stretch of baseball, the Rockies finally got a day off before starting a crucial road trip that may determine whether or not they make the playoffs. The Rockies come into today’s game with a record of 18-19, good for the eighth and final playoff spot in the National League, just a half-game above the Giants and Brewers. Garrett Hampson has been on a hot streak at the plate going 4-for-8 over his last two games with 3 home runs. Antonio Senzatela will get the start tonight. He is having his best season as a pro and pitched brilliantly in his last start, shutting out the Padres over seven innings. The Rockies will need him to pitch better against the Dodgers, however, as he had his worst start of the season the last time he faced them in an 11-3 loss on August 23. On the season, Senzatela’s line is 3-1, 43 ⅓ IP, 3.32 ERA, 1.108 WHIP, 28 K.
Dustin May will toe the rubber for the Dodgers. May has been remarkably consistent, holding opponents to less than two earned runs per game in all seven of his starts on the season. May faced the Rockies on August 22 at Dodger Stadium and pitched well yielding one run over five-plus innings.
