Colorado Rockies game no. 40 thread: Ryan Castellani vs. Julio Urias

Rockies look for rare series win in L.A.

In a rare Sunday night game that’s not featured on ESPN, the Colorado Rockies face the Los Angeles Dodgers in the rubber match of a three-game series. So pour yourself a cup of coffee (or three) — it’s going to be a late night.

Ryan Castellani (1-2, 4.81) gets the start for the Rockies (19-20) after making his first-career relief appearance Wednesday against the Giants. The rookie right-hander threw two shutout innings of relief in the win, which was a far cry from his previous start. Castellani gave up five runs in just two innings of work last Sunday’s start against the Padres. This will be Castellani’s first time facing the potent Dodgers lineup, but he’s fared well on the road so far in his young career. Castellani has a 1.80 ERA in his two appearances away from Coors Field this season.

Julio Urías (3-0, 3.27 ERA) starts for the Dodgers (30-11), who have lost only four games since August 12. Urias has pitched well for L.A., giving up more than two earned runs only once. The Rockies will hope to jump on the left-hander early. Urias has a 9.00 ERA in the first innings of his seven starts this season, and three of the four home runs he’s surrendered have come in the first frame.
