Colorado Rockies game no. 22 thread: Austin Gomber vs. Anthony DeSclafani

Coming off a strong homestand, the Rockies look to build serious momentum in San Francisco

Welp, the Jeff Bridich era has come to an end. The future now holds so many different possibilities. It’s an exciting time to be a Rockies fan again.

For now, the squad on the field remains the same and they’ve been playing some good baseball as of late. After winning their last two series and finishing the homestand 5-3, the Colorado Rockies travel to San Francisco to take on the Giants. Last time the Rockies visited the Giants was just a of couple weeks ago when they were swept and only scored four runs across three games. The Rockies are still searching for their first road victory of the year.

On the mound in the bay for the Rockies will be Austin Gomber (1-2, 3.38 ERA). Gomber is coming off of another solid start last week against the Astros in which he only allowed two runs in six innings with six strikeouts. Gomber has already faced the Giants back on April 9th when he threw 6 13 innings and gave up two runs and four walks. Gomber has yet to give up more than three runs in any of his starts this season.

For the 14-8 Giants it’ll be the right-handed veteran Anthony DeSclafani (1-0, 2.14 ERA). This will be DeSclafani’s second start against the Rockies after he threw six shutout innings with eight strikeouts back on April 11th. DeSclafani has a balanced five pitch mix consisting of a fastball, slider, sinker, changeup and a curveball.

The Giants are one of the surprise teams of the season so far, being only a game behind the Dodgers in the NL West standings.
