Colorado Rockies game no. 3 thread: Walker Buehler vs Jon Gray

New, 72 comments

The Rockies look to take the lead in the series

After being no-hit for the first six innings yesterday, the bats finally came alive to produce six runs on seven hits in the seventh inning. However, it was too little, too late, as the Dodgers had no problem knocking the ball all over the yard and had already amassed a ten-run lead.

Following a 2020 season that saw him lose about 2 MPH on average and was eventually shut down due to shoulder inflammation, Jon Gray saw his velocity increase by 2-3 MPH this spring. He will look to reestablish the dominant presence he has shown on the mound at times over his career.

Hard throwing right-hander Walker Buehler will look to further secure his place as a top-end starter in the league, coming off three seasons in which he had an ERA+ of 148, 127, and 124. Buehler would be the ace for quite a few teams, but slots in as the number three starter on the Dodgers, displaying just how dominant of a pitching staff they possess.

The Rockies will need to improve on their offensive output from the onset of the game as the high-powered Dodgers offense is sure to continue to score runs in this series. The left-handed bats, four of which produced home runs in the big seventh inning last night, will need to be the catalysts against Buehler this evening.
