Colorado Rockies game no. 35 thread: Dinelson Lamet vs. Antonio Senzatela

Wintery weather will make for a chilly night at Coors Field

After already playing the Giants nine times and the Dodgers and Diamondbacks seven times apiece, the Rockies will finally take on the Padres for the first time in 2021 on Tuesday night. The Rockies have gone 7-16 against the NL West so far this season on the way to their 12-22 overall record. The Padres, who enter the game in second place in the NL West behind the Giants, are 19-16 overall and 12-10 vs. the NL West.

With Monday’s series opener pushed to a Wednesday doubleheader because of rain, Antonio Senzatela (1-3, 5.76) got an extra day to recover as he returns from the 10-day IL after a right groin strain to make the start. The righty has had a lot of success against the Padres in his career with a 3.08 ERA and 7-2 record in nine starts and 15 total appearances. The Rockies will face Dinelson Lamet (0-0, 0.00 ERA). Lamet has had two starts this season, each lasting two scoreless innings. Lamet was activated from the 10-day IL earlier in May after missing time with right forearm tightness and is likely to be limited in pitch count, especially in the cold.

It’s been gloomy and cold with intermittent showers in Denver all day. The forecast calls for the rain to maybe stop before first pitch, but temperature will still be chilly, lingering around 41 degrees.
