Colorado Rockies game no. 41 thread: Jeff Hoffman vs Antonio Senzatela

The Rockies look to secure their first series win in three weeks

Heading into the finale of a four game set with the Reds, the Rockies are running thin on reinforcements. Manager Bud Black threw everything he had at Cincinnati on Saturday night, utilizing eight relievers and depleting his entire bench, but unfortunately it wasn’t enough to take the third game in a row against the Reds. Coming off a tough loss in extra innings, the Rockies will have to dig deep to avoid the split.

Antonio Senzatela will toe the slab for Colorado. His spot in the rotation was pushed back from Saturday to today to help him maintain normal rest for his second start since being activated from the injured list. Senzatela enters the game with a 5.97 ERA, which has been steadily climbing since his last quality start on April 18th, against the Mets.

On the mound for the Reds will be a familiar face; Jeff Hoffman. This will be Hoffman’s first time squaring off against his old squad and his eighth start of the season. He comes in sporting a nearly league-average 97 ERA+ but has been tagged with a loss in his last two outings.

The bullpen has been taxed to this point in the series and the next day off won’t be until Thursday. But, Senzatela is on full rest so expect Black to let his starter go as deep into this one as possible.
