Josh Fuentes named NL Player of the Week

The third baseman has been torrid in the last five games

Josh Fuentes has been named the NL Player of the Week.

Fuentes had multiple RBI in his last five games, leading MLB for the week with 13. In addition, he hit three doubles and two home runs.

Fuentes’ streak of multiple RBI in consecutive games ties him with Charlie Blackmon (April 21-25, 2017) and Dante Bichette (July 23-28, 1995) for the longest such streaks in Colorado Rockies franchise history.

Last week, Fuentes batted .500 with a .909 SLG and a 1.431 OPS.

Also notable, Fuentes added to his walk total. He has now walked three times in 2021, equaling his 2019-20 total.

In addition, Fuentes has been solid defensively and now has a DRS of 3.

Also, it’s always a good time to watch Fuentes’ walk-off single against the Padres:

Although Fuentes struggled in April, he’s heating up as May unfolds, becoming more comfortable — and getting a new haircut. As he put it: “I need to do what I’m capable of doing,” Fuentes said. “I think that the past couple of days have shown that … I don’t have to be Mike Trout, I’m not going to be Nolan. I’m just going to be Josh.”

The AL Player of the Week is New York Yankee Aaron Judge.
