Colorado Rockies game no. 46 thread: Madison Bumgarner vs Antonio Senzatela

The Rockies look to put together a winning streak after ending their five-game skid

After a warm welcome back to the friendly confines of Coors Field last night and a 7-1 victory, the Colorado Rockies will attempt to clinch the series by picking up game two against the Arizona Diamondbacks this afternoon. The Rockies will look to continue being the good version of their two-faced selves in the second game of the series.

Antonio Senzatela (1-4, 5.18 ERA) will get the call for the Rockies and will look to build on his last start in which he allowed just one run on four hits in his seven innings of work against the Cincinnati Reds. After things fell apart following Senzatela’s exit in that game, the Rockies are now just 1-7 in Senzatela’s starts this year. However, Senzatela has started two games against the Diamondbacks so far this season and is 1-0 with a 2.13 ERA against them.

The resurgent Madison Bumgarner (4-3, 4.15 ERA) will start the game for the Diamondbacks and will look to rebound from a small injury that forced him to leave his last start early. Bumgarner had a spasm in his left adductor muscle and left the game against the Los Angeles Dodgers after throwing only four innings in his last start.

Bumgarner has long been a starting pitcher that the Rockies have struggled with, first with the Giants and now with the D-Backs. While the Colorado lineup did get to him on April 7th to the tune of five runs in five innings, he has returned to his old form in the last few weeks and got the victory against them on April 30th. On the year against the Rockies, Bumgarner is now 1-1 with a 5.40 ERA and has allowed a .293 batting average in his two starts.
