Colorado Rockies game no. 53 thread: Austin Gomber vs Mitch Keller

Colorado will look to bounce back in Game 2 after a Game 1 shutout

After dropping Game 1 of the twin billing and looking pretty lifeless in the process, the Rockies will look to come to life and salvage a split in Game 2.

Austin Gomber (3-4, 4.56 ERA) will start for the Rockies in the second matchup of the split doubleheader coming off of his best outing of the year. Gomber went eight innings in his last start, allowing two runs on just four hits en route to a win against the New York Mets.

Gomber has allowed just three earned runs over 19 13 innings in his last three starts. He will be looking to further establish himself as a reliable part of the deep Rockies starting pitching staff that currently has six starters that are capable of staking their claim in the five-man rotation.

Mitch Keller (2-6, 7.41 ERA) will get the nod for the Pittsburgh Pirates after being slated to pitch in the postponed game on Friday. Keller hasn’t had the year he would have hoped for so far and has failed to reach the end of the sixth inning of any of his nine starts this season. Keller has taken the loss in each of his last three starts and will look to capitalize on the struggling Rockies offense to notch his third win of the year.
