Colorado Rockies game no. 34 thread: Germán Márquez vs Adam Wainwright

The Rockies look to salvage one win in St. Louis

Following two losses in St. Louis, the Rockies are still searching for their third road win of the year. The team showed heart and perseverance in last night’s game in mounting two comebacks, but ultimately fell short.

Germán Márquez will take the ball coming off the most disappointing start of his career. In his last time out, Márquez gave up eight runs in just 23 of an inning and it was the only time in his career that he failed to get out of the first inning. This afternoon’s game will be a good opportunity to put that outing behind him as he takes on the St. Louis Cardinals, a team he has faced four times and has amounted a 2-0 record against with a 2.66 ERA.

For the Cardinals, Adam Wainwright gets the call coming off of his first victory of the 2021 season despite giving up five runs in 523 innings of work. Wainwright struggled a little in the early part of the season but flashed signs of his old self in a complete game loss to the Philadelphia Phillies on April 26th. On the year, he is now 1-3 and sports a 4.72 ERA and an ERA+ of 80.
