Trevor Story reinstated from 10-day IL

The Rockies’ All-Star shortstop returns for the finale in Miami

The Colorado Rockies announced this afternoon that shortstop Trevor Story has been reinstated from the 10-day injured list prior to tonight’s game against the Miami Marlins. Story was placed on the IL on May 29th (retroactive to May 28th) after leaving the second game of a double header against the New York Mets with tightness and inflammation in his right elbow.

Story will need to hit the ground running for tonight’s series finale against the Marlins, as the Rockies have the opportunity for not only the rare road victory, but their first road series win of the season. Story is having a down year by his standards, slashing just .255/.322/.424 with only five home runs. By comparison, Ryan McMahon has over twice that with 13, and slap-hitting speedsters Garrett Hampson and Raimel Tapia each have five themselves.

In a corresponding roster move, infielder Alan Trejo has been optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque. Trejo is having a good start to his rookie season, hitting .244/.289/.366 in 41 at-bats, and recently hit his first major league home run.
