After an absolute shellacking in the first game of the three-game set in Cincinnati, the Colorado Rockies look to bounce back an salvage their second road win of the trip.
Ace Germán Márquez (4-5, 3.91 ERA) takes the mound for the Rockies and will look to build on a nice run that he has put together in his last six starts. Since having the worst outing of his career on May 4th in which he failed to get out of the first inning after allowing eight runs to the Giants, Márquez has been on an absolute tear. In his last six starts, Márquez has an ERA of 1.89 and a record of 3-2 due to a lack of run support.
Getting the nod for the Cincinnati Reds will be veteran Wade Miley (5-4, 2.96 ERA). Miley is having one of the best seasons in his 11-year career, putting together an ERA+ of 155 this year, just off the pace of his career high of 159. In Miley’s last start, on Sunday in St. Louis, he received a no-decision after throwing five scoreless innings. Miley has been very successful against the Rockies in his career, putting up an 8-3 record on a 4.37 ERA in 15 starts.
The Rockies offense will look to take advantage of the friendly hitting atmosphere of Great American Ballpark and capitalize on some late momentum build in the game last night. Combine some offensive success with continued control of the game by Germán Márquez and the Rockies have a recipe for success.
