Colorado Rockies game no. 123 thread: Zac Gallen vs Kyle Freeland

The Rockies look to extend their home winning streak to nine games

After winning their eighth straight home game with a commanding win over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday night, the Colorado Rockies will be looking to win game two and the series against them tonight.

Zac Gallen (1-7, 5.03 ERA) will take the mound for Arizona as he tries to turn around what has been a disappointing season. While Gallen hasn’t been as bad as his record suggests, he has allowed his fair share of runs over the course of the season. In his last five starts, Gallen has allowed 21 runs on 30 hits in 2623 innings of work for a 7.09 ERA and is 0-3 over that stretch. Gallen has made five starts against Colorado in his career and is 1-1 with a 3.00 ERA in those five games.

Kyle Freeland (4-6, 4.40 ERA) gets the ball for the home team as he tries to build on his impressive season. Freeland identified some issues in his delivery after five disappointing starts to open the season and has lived up to his potential since that point. In his last 10 starts, Freeland has posted a 2.53 ERA and has put his team in position to win each of those games.

In his career against the Diamondbacks, Freeland has made 14 starts, posting a 3-5 record and a 5.85 ERA. This will be his first start against Arizona this season as he looks to lead Colorado to a series win and a ninth straight win at Coors Field.
