Colorado Rockies game no. 130 thread: Antonio Senzatela vs Mitch White

Antonio Senzatela and the Rockies are looking to steal away a series win from the Dodgers in Los Angeles.

Despite a mostly valiant effort from the bullpen following Jon Gray’s departure due to injury, the Rockies fell to the Dodgers 5-2 with a quiet offense and late game implosion from Daniel Bard. Now the Rockies look to bounce back this afternoon at Chavez Ravine to try and steal away a series from a Los Angeles Dodgers team looking to gain ground on the San Francisco Giants in the division race.

Antonio Senzatela will be taking the mound for the Rockies in this afternoon’s series finale. Senzatela has thrown for less than six complete innings just once in his last six starts, and has five quality starts in the same span. Unfortunately, he’s playing the Dodgers in Los Angeles, where historically he has fared poorly. Senzatela has a career ERA of 7.48 across seven games with six starts at Dodger Stadium.

On the bump for the Dodgers is the right-handed rookie Mitch White, making just his third career start. White has an ERA of 3.06 through 35 13 innings so far this season, and his last outing was a dominant 7 13 inning shutout relief effort against the Pittsburgh Pirates. White primarily utilizes three pitches: a four seam fastball that generally hits mid-to-high 90’s with solid spin, a curveball, and a slider. He has excellent control on his fastball and can get batters out both with the ground ball and the strikeout.
