Rockies at Braves Game 3 postponed (rain)

It will take an adventure for the Rockies to get back to Atlanta.

Thursday’s game between the Colorado Rockies and the Atlanta Braves has been postponed due to “inclement weather and unplayable field conditions.”

Colorado was going for a road sweep in Atlanta this afternoon. The Rockies will instead finish the first two series of their current road trip with a 5-1 record, and will head north to Washington D.C. as they look to put the finishing touches on their most successful road trip of the season.

The Braves are the current leader in the NL East; if neither team were in playoff contention, there is a chance this game would not be rescheduled. Atlanta and Colorado are not scheduled to face each other for the remainder of the year, and there are no mutual off days for either team through the end of the regular season. The Rockies won’t even play within a 600-mile radius of Atlanta for the rest of the year.

Under these provisions, it could mean both teams wait until the final weekend of the regular season to decide if this one game has playoff implications and needs to be played. Monday, October 4 could be a prospective reschedule date for the Rockies to fly back to Atlanta.

Colorado is currently scheduled to finish the 2021 regular season in Arizona on October 3.
