Colorado Rockies game no. 148 thread: Kyle Freeland vs Patrick Corbin

The Rockies’ look to continue their strong road trip in the NL East by securing a series win in DC.

The Colorado Rockies’ whirlwind tour of the National League East continued unabated last night with a 9-8 victory over the Washington Nationals for their fourth road win in a row, along with the Rockies’ best road trip of the season. Currently 6-1 on their (now) nine-game east coast road trip, the Rockies look to add another win today and secure the series in our nation’s capital.

Starting for the Rockies is Kyle Freeland, looking to put up a good start after two rough outings. On September 6, he got pounded by the Giants to the tune of seven earned runs in just 4 13 innings. On September 11, he made it through six, but gave up four earned runs. His last quality start was back in August. With other parts of the rotation looking gassed as the season winds down, the Rockies need a Kyle Freeland rebound.

On the bump for the Nationals is the left-handed Patrick Corbin, who has an ERA of 5.98 through 28 starts this season. Corbin has gone deep into the game in his last two starts with seven innings each, both for quality starts. He has given up a lot of contact though, especially on August 31 and September 6 where he gave up 9 and 11 hits respectively. Corbin doesn’t walk a ton of batters, and his chase rate is solid in the 83rd percentile. He throws a slider, sinker, four seam fastball, and changeup as his primary four pitch mix.
