Colorado Rockies game no. 136 thread: Ian Anderson vs Germán Márquez

The Rockies look to take a 2-1 lead in the four game set

The Colorado Rockies bullpen came threw following Antonio Senzatela’s magnificent start to secure the 4-3 victory over the Atlanta Braves on Friday night. Germán Márquez and the rest of the Colorado lineup will look to make it two straight against Atlanta this evening.

For the Braves, Ian Anderson (6-5, 3.36 ERA) will take the mound in his second start since coming off the IL. Anderson experienced some shoulder inflammation and spent about seven weeks on the IL before making a start and securing a victory on August 29th against the San Francisco Giants.

Anderson has put together a strong season in just his second year and has provided the Braves with a quality start in most of his outings. This is Anderson’s first tame facing the Rockies.

Germán Márquez (11-10, 4.10 ERA) will take the hill for the Rockies and will look to bounce back from a rough stretch that has seen him give up 19 runs in 1913 innings of work over his last four outings. Márquez, like the rest of Colorado’s rotation, has shown some signs of fatigue in the last few weeks, coming off of last year’s shortened season.

This will be the fourth time Márquez has faced the Braves in his career. In his first three starts against Atlanta, Márquez is 1-2 with a 7.56 ERA. The last time that Márquez faced the Braves was April 9th, 2019, so there will be some unfamiliarity on both sides in this contest.
